How this tool works
Drying time depends mostly on the material and how much water it took on. Tile and sealed concrete give up water fastest, drywall and framing take longer, and poured walls, hardwood and plaster are the slowest. Cold basements slow evaporation, which is why a lower level in January often needs added heat or a desiccant dehumidifier.
The estimate assumes professional air movers and dehumidifiers running continuously with daily readings. The real finish point is the reading, not the calendar: materials are dry when they sit within 2 to 4 points of a dry reference in the same house. See structural drying for the full process.
